Come January 2012 and the cold desert beauty of the charming town of Nagaur in Rajasthan will come alive with a feverish burst of activity in preparation for one of the most unique annual fairs held here every year for a period of seven to eight days. As it gets ready to welcome a colorful and cosmopolitan mélange of visitors and traders who gravitate here towards the end of January, this fifth largest district of Rajasthan is totally transformed!
The second largest cattle fair of India, the Nagaur Fair 2012, will boast of trading an impressive number of about 70,000 magnificently garlanded bullocks, camels and horses, who are regularly brought here every year by their turbaned and fiercely moustached proud Rajasthani owners. In addition to these animals, a noisy mixture of oxen, sheep and cows will also be traded at the Nagaur Fair 2012.
Besides doing business, the visitors get an excellent once-in a-lifetime opportunity of enjoying a diverse variety of enthralling activities at the fair such as tug-of-war, camel races, bullock races and cockfights, making it an experience to remember!
In India, the aerosport of ballooning is comparatively new and was introduced in the twentieth century. The months of October to March are ideal for taking hot air balloon rides as the temperatures remain cool. The Balloon Club in India was established in 1970 at Safdarjung Airport, New Delhi, and the major ballooning centers from where you can enjoy hot air balloon rides are Delhi, Guwahati, Dehradun, Bangalore, Jaipur, Nagaur, Bangalore, Agra, and Pushkar. Come conquer the sky!
