Visit the Biggest and the Most Vibrant Pushkar fair of Rajasthan

The fair in Pushkar is a very old and renowned tradition of the state of Rajasthan. It was originally set up for the camel herders who could come at this fair and conduct their buying and selling activities for the camels, cattle and other livestock. This promoted the herders to come into contact with other people who were involved in the same trade. This event takes place in the month of October or November. It all depends upon the pattern of the moon. On the full moon day or in other words on kartik purnima, this festival is celebrated in a very vivacious manner. This annual festival is generally held for five days.

Pushkar Fair 2011Slowly this tradition has developed into more of a tourist attraction. This is due to the Rajasthani culture which is so full of colors and other folk activities. The Pushkar fair is also known as the Pushkar Camel Fair as it is one of the world’s largest camel fairs. It is one of a kind with a backdrop of the desert, the sun and the vibrancy of their culture and heritage. The folk activities may include singing and dancing shows, traditional hand puppet entertaining activities and so on. There are food stalls selling all the mouth watering cultural dishes. There are also stalls that have many of the handicrafts of the state on display. A person will be completely enthralled by this whole environment in the Pushkar fair.

There are other very interesting activities to be indulged in, such as a hot air balloon flight in the town of Pushkar. One will be completely mesmerized by the scenic beauty of the Pushkar Lake, the little hills around it and the multicolored festival when viewed from up in the sky.
